Staff Appreciation Luncheon on
December 12th

BIRTHDAY HERKY

The Wickham Elementary Birthday Herky is a fun way to display a birthday message to your student. For a pre-paid $10 rental fee (proceeds to the school PTO) the Birthday Herky can be reserved for your child’s special day.

The Wickham Cookie Walk  - Thursday, December 19th

Join us for cookies, hot cocoa, crafts, storytime, and an indoor snowball fight! Take pictures with your favorite Ice Queen and Snow Princess.  Volunteer help will be needed - a sign up will be sent out soon.

 Wickham Science Fair T-shirt Design Contest

With the Science Fair approaching on January 23rd, the Science Fair Committee is once again requesting assistance from Wickham student artists with designing this year’s Science Fair t-shirt.  Use your imagination to create a t-shirt representing this year’s exciting Science Fair!  Please submit all designs on a sheet of white 8.5 x 11 paper to the Science Fair folder in the Wickham office. The deadline for submission is 12 pm on Friday, December 20th.  To allow ample time to be able to order the shirts, we will not be able to accept late submissions.  The winning designer will be awarded with a free t-shirt featuring their design, and recognition for their artistic efforts! 

SCIENCE FAIR REGISTRATION INFORMATION

 

 

 

THE PTO IS EXCITED TO OFFER OUR 7TH ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR TO OUR YOUNG SCIENTISTS ON JANUARY 23, 2020! ALL K-6 WICKHAM STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE. PLEASE REVIEW THE INFORMATION BELOW FOR IDEAS, GUIDELINES, AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURES. STUDENTS SHOULD SELECT PROJECTS THAT MATCH THEIR INTERESTS AND ABILITIES. THIS VOLUNTARY, EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY SHOULD BE FUN AND INTERESTING AND PROVIDE A CHANCE FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND STUDENTS TO WORK TOGETHER ON AN ACADEMIC ACTIVITY AT HOME.

 

Choose a topic that you find interesting! Your project should fall into one of four categories:

 

·      Experiment

·      Collection

·      Apparatus

·      Demonstration

 

Links to Science Fair resource documents that explain the four categories above are available on Wickham's website (and PTO homepage). Please be sure to read the 2 resource documents PRIOR to planning your project.

 

Students may work individually, or in small groups of 2-3 students (each student must individually sign up via the event brite link and list their additional group members)

Our PTO supports the enrichment of all students at Wickham Elementary. We do this by providing the organizational structure and financial support for:

  • Student Activities & Programs such as the Science Fair, Chess Club, Wickham's Got Talent, Lego League; school field trips, visiting authors and artists

  • Family & Community Events and Programs such as the Back to School Social, Fall Fun Fair, Family Movie Night, and the End of Year Picnic

  • Teacher & Staff Support such as staff appreciation events, classroom assistance and technology enhancement

In order to provide these services to our school community, we need parent volunteers for the roles listed below during the 2019-20 school year.  Many roles will come with notes from committee members of previous years, and the PTO can help when needed.  You might consider signing up for a committee with a friend or two, or a group of neighbors!

Box Tops for Education

The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school! Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label.

Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, most Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app, available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.

If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products. Thanks for helping our school get what it needs!

The Wizard Donation Drive 

In lieu of the PTO asking students to participate in sales fundraisers (i.e. - selling wrapping paper, fruit, etc.), Wickham families elect to hold an annual donation drive.  This fundraiser is the Wizard Donation Drive (formerly known as Project Easy Green).

 

Each year, based on the planned costs of enrichment activities for the coming year, the Executive Board provides a suggested amount for each family.  The 2018-2019 suggested donation amount is as follows:

 

2018-2019 Donation Amount:  $75.00 (1st student) + $25.00 (per each additional student)

 

Why the suggested amount?  By each family donating the suggested amount (or more), the Wickham PTO can fully fund all programming and achieve our goal of enriching the lives of ALL of our students, staff, and families. 

Families may contribute via cash or check (made payable to Wickham PTO) or via the website link below  and drop off at the Wickham Elementary Main Office or via our easy online donation form (see blue button to the right).  Keep in mind that donation/contributions made to the PTO are tax-deductible.  Although a suggested amount is provided, please know that any amount donated is greatly appreciated.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ:

The Textbook and Planner Fees (paid to the District via Powerschool) are NOT contributions to the PTO and are not part of the Wizard Donation Drive or any other PTO Fundraising activity.  Any donations made to the PTO are separate from Fees owed to the District.

 

Tax Receipts For All Donations Made to Wickham PTO in the 2019 Calendar Year will be Mailed in January 2020
