Teacher Wish Lists
Are you considering getting a gift for your child(ren)'s teacher for the holidays? Look at their classroom wish lists to see the items they need to start the second half of the year off right! Please if you wish to donate items send them with your child to school or drop them off at the main office clearly labeled with the teacher's name.
Teachers everywhere often spend their own money to outfit their classrooms when supplies are needed. Let's take this opportunity to show our teachers how much we care about the job they are doing for our Wickham Wizards!
We are excited to bring the Fall Fun Fair back for the first time since 2019! In order to bring back the fun, we need A LOT of volunteers for this event. We are looking for volunteers to work 30 minute shifts at the event - none of the shifts require special training. Please help make this a fun event for our students by signing up for a shift. THANK YOU!

West High School Homecoming Parade
The First Annual Homecoming Parade is 2 weeks away (September 20, 6 p.m.) and we are getting excited!! It's sure to be a great event with Nate Keading (WHS alum) as our Grand Marshall and lots of West High/Community groups represented. To make this one-mile parade a success, we are looking for vehicles to transport the participants. These vehicles will be used to showcase the Heros of Troy (Homecoming Court) and maybe some other clubs. If you have a convertible, pickup, golf cart, or any other vehicle that you think will work please sign up here and we will get in contact with you.
PLUS, Wizards get to show their spirit!
Join us on Wednesday, September 20 as we represent Wickham Elementary in the inaugural West High Homecoming Parade. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and complete a 1-mile route near West High School. Wickham families are invited to meet in the parking lot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 570 Dublin Drive in Iowa City at 5:30 p.m. to walk in the parade.
Students must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the parade and be capable of walking the 1-mile route. Wickham PTO will provide a school banner and decorations for our parade entry. Participants are encouraged to wear Wickham, Northwest Junior High or West High Trojan Green and Gold. Feel free to bring signs, pom poms or anything else that will make our entry more festive.
Wickham PTO will not provide oversight for students participating in the parade – students must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the event.
We look forward to seeing our school community together again at Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, August 21st from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.!
Meet your teachers, see your friends, and enjoy some ice cream from The Depot. Make sure to stop by the PTO table to get your FREE ice cream and get PTO information for the upcoming year. We will be serving nearly 400 students and their families in a 1-hour period - consider visiting the PTO table before visiting your classroom to help with traffic flow.
In lieu of having students sell anything to raise funds for the PTO, we are again doing the Wizard Donation Drive. The suggested donation is $75 for your first student and $25 for any additional students. As always, any donation amount is appreciated and can be made via check (payable to Wickham PTO) or paid online through our website www.wickhampto.org. WiFi is limited at the school, so we are encouraging families to make donations ahead of time or bring a check to the ice cream social.
For families that make a donation At the Ice Cream Social or BEFORE, every Wickham student in the family will receive a Wickham Slap Bracelet - while supplies last!
VOLUNTEERS - We are looking for a few volunteers to help us staff the PTO table during the event.
The Wizard needs your help during the Fall Fun Fair and Silent Auction.
We have a sign-up genius to ask for help to set up, during the fall fun fair, and clean-up. We need all hands on deck during this event, it's our largest event and we would appreciate every parent attending to help with at least one 30-minute slot! No training is needed!

Wickham’s Got Talent is BACK!!!
After a 3 year break, we are excited to announce that Wickham’s Got Talent is back!!! We know our Wickham community is filled with talented kids and parents and teachers. We want you to showcase your talents! Each act should be no more than two and a half minutes and WE MEAN THAT! It can be as short as you want. What can you do? Just about anything you’d like…
Do a short skit!
Sing a song!
Tell jokes!
Play an instrument!
Create a dance routine with your friends!
Lip sync a song!
Perform a gymnastics routine!
Recite a poem!
Perform magic tricks!
Show us your juggling skills!
Got another idea???
1. Unlike the TV show America’s Got Talent, there are no judges – you just get to show off your amazing talents to the thunderous applause of your friends and family.
2. You can have as many Wickham students, parents, staff or teachers in your act as you want. This is an opportunity for the entire family to get on stage and show their stuff. How about a mother-son musical duet? Or a father-daughter dance?
3. Each act must have an adult as the contact person. We will do all communication through email, so be sure to put an email address on the permission form. If a parent is part of the act, that parent can be the contact person.
4. There will be a screening of all acts to be certain the content is appropriate for our community. We will ask that you send us a link to a video online. Also, if we have more acts than we have time for, we will use the screening to select the acts based on the following criteria: originality, fun, and creating a good balance of different types of acts. We will do everything we can to include all acts – our only restriction is time. (Did I mention every act can be no longer than two and a half minutes?)
5. So that we can be sure our children are presented in the best light, all acts must be fully prepared. Don’t wait to the last minute to start practicing your act!
6. We will have a hand held microphone and a piano available at the space. Everything else that you might need, you will have to provide. Also, you must be able to clear whatever set you have in one minute, so keep it simple! No food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium. We will also not allow glitter, confetti or anything else that is difficult to clean up.
7. Each student can only be in one act. All deadlines will be strictly enforced. All performers must attend the rehearsal in order to participate in the show.
8. You are responsible for providing a CD or music file if you are including a song in your act.
9. Each act has to submit only one Entry Form. However, each participant must submit a separate Permission Form with a parent signature and email address.
Timeline
Sign up via Google Form by December 31 (permission slips will be sent separately via email)
Screening videos due by January 14
Rehearsal is 6 pm January 30 at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA).
Show is January 31 at 6:30 pm at CCPA (performers called at 6:00 pm). These times might change depending on the number of acts we have.
